JPG is practical for ordinary opaque photographs and broad software compatibility. PNG can retain transparent regions and keeps sharp graphics free from new JPEG-style artifacts, but photographic PNG files may be much larger. Select the background color before JPG export when the WebP contains transparency.
The converter decodes the current WebP pixels and writes a new format. Detail removed by earlier lossy encoding stays removed, and a PNG output is not an original lossless master. Keep the WebP when it is the best available source, and avoid repeated conversions between lossy formats.
A still-image canvas workflow may export only one frame from an animated WebP. Use an animation-aware converter when motion matters. For a still asset, optional maximum dimensions can prepare a form, document, or message attachment; avoid upscaling and verify the new width and height.
