Transparent and semitransparent PNG pixels must be composited onto a solid color before JPEG encoding. White suits many documents and marketplaces, but a brand, dark-mode, or print workflow may need another background. Inspect soft shadows and antialiased edges because they can reveal pale or dark fringes when flattened against the wrong color.
JPEG compression is effective for continuous-tone photos. Small text, interface captures, flat illustrations, and logos can develop halos or fuzzy edges, and those assets often benefit more from PNG or WebP. A smaller JPG is not automatically a better file if the content relies on crisp lines or transparent placement.
Reducing oversized dimensions before encoding can save substantial bytes for email, forms, listings, and websites. Keep aspect ratio, check minimum platform requirements, and avoid upscaling because it cannot create detail. Preserve the original PNG when transparency or future editing may be needed.

JPG cannot store alpha transparency. The converter draws transparent pixels over the selected solid background before encoding, and that background becomes part of the new image.
Choose white as the background color, convert, and inspect the result around soft shadows and antialiased edges. The preview should show how transparent regions will be flattened.
