JPEG photographs may gain smaller modern delivery but cannot recover detail already lost. PNG graphics need transparent-edge and small-text review. SVG is vector artwork; converting it to WebP rasterizes it at fixed pixels, so choose dimensions large enough for the intended display and retain the scalable SVG master.
Set maximum width or height when the source is larger than the page will display, preserve aspect ratio, and avoid upscaling. Then lower quality in small steps while checking faces, texture, gradients, text, and alpha edges. Auto-reconvert can speed comparison, but the final downloaded file is the version that must pass review.
WebP alone does not improve a page if the file is oversized in dimensions, loaded eagerly below the fold, or served without width and height. Add descriptive alt text in the website, use responsive source sizes where useful, and keep a JPG or PNG fallback only for environments you actually support.

No. Results depend on source content, dimensions, prior optimization, and quality. A highly optimized source can remain smaller. Compare actual bytes and visual quality before replacing an asset.
WebP supports alpha transparency. Inspect soft shadows, antialiased logos, and partially transparent edges in the export, because those details reveal conversion problems most quickly.
The vector artwork is rasterized into fixed pixels. It will no longer scale without a resolution limit or remain editable as vector paths. Choose output dimensions carefully and keep the SVG source.
Start near the default and reduce gradually while viewing the result at its intended size and at 100 percent for difficult details. Stop before the next reduction creates visible damage.
Use the converter's maximum dimensions when the source exceeds the largest real display slot. Right-sized images often save more bytes cleanly than an oversized export at very low quality.
